I love you, His Dark Materials.
Unfortunately, it's very possible the Golden Compass movie will completely suck. I hope it makes money though, so there can be a sequel and I can bitch about the casting of Mary Malone like the shrill, horrible cliche that I am.
(Actually, I think the cast is the best thing the movie seems to have going for it so far. Lee Scoresby is perfection, and not just because I'm in love with Sam Elliott.)
Lyra, Will, Mary, Coulter and their daemons (c) Philip Pullman, that darling, wonderful genius.
